At first I was confused that the magnet wasn't attached to the back of the needle minder, but then I realized it was so you can secure it to your work. The magnet is incredibly strong, but not so much that you can't remove your needle easily. The design side is beautiful, with a smooth and shiny enamel finish.

I bought this for my grandmother for Christmas. It's perfect. She loves to do embroidery. Very high quality item with a very strong magnet. The cardinal reminds us of my grandfather who passed 10 years ago. It's a “ghost whisper” for us. The cardinal was his high school mascot. They were high school sweethearts.
