This gorgeous Common Mapwing Butterfly enamel pin features the insect found in the forests of India. Mapwing Butterflies (Cyrestis thyodamas) are one species of butterfly that exhibit "mud-puddling" behavior. This occurs when butterflies come together around a puddle of mud (or other moist substance) and suck up the moisture to supplement their nutritional needs. Typically butterflies do this for amino acids and sodium. This hard enamel pin is 1.75" from tip-to-tip and is set on a highly-polished gold-plated metal. This pin has two posts on the back.
